Fall 2025 Dispatch Has Arrived

The Fall 2025 issue of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad Dispatch dives into the rich cinematic history of the Cumbres & Toltec, highlighting how Hollywood has long relied on the railroad’s dramatic scenery and vintage equipment to bring Western stories to life. From classics like The Texas Rangers and Butch and Sundance: The Early Days to the unforgettable opening sequence of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, filmmakers have turned to the C&TS for its authenticity, historic locomotives, and sweeping Rocky Mountain landscapes. The issue also explores modern productions—from music videos to documentaries—that continue to showcase the railroad’s timeless appeal.

Beyond its Hollywood spotlight, the Dispatch celebrates a season of progress across the railroad. Volunteers and Friends members completed major restoration work on historic freight cars, telegraph booths, and the ongoing reconstruction of Express Car 163 in Colorado Springs. With successful summer events, the 100th anniversary of the K-36 locomotives, and new interpretive exhibits underway—including the upcoming Hollywood Movie Car—the Fall 2025 edition underscores the passion, craftsmanship, and community that keep the Cumbres & Toltec’s living history thriving.
