This holiday season, Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad invites families to board its magical 90-minute “Santa’s Holiday Express” — a festive vintage steam-train ride from either Antonito, Colorado or Chama, New Mexico. Amid beautifully decorated coaches, elves leading songs and stories, the train winds through snowy high-desert terrain or pine-forest mountains until the grand arrival of Santa himself for personal greetings and photo opportunities. Each ticket includes hot cocoa, a candy cane, and a holiday cookie, and guests are encouraged to bring unopened toys or non-perishable food items to support local charities.
