IS VOLUNTEERING AS A DOCENT RIGHT FOR YOU?
If you enjoy meeting and conversing with the general public and have the stamina to be on your feet throughout the day on a moving train, we have a great opportunity for you as a FRIENDS Docent. The C&TSRR season runs from Memorial Day through mid-October, which gives you a lot of flexibility as to when and how long you volunteer.
Yard Duty Docents
In addition to the role described above, as a Yard Duty Docent, you will give personalized tours of the train yard area, explain the various exhibits, answer guests’ procedural questions and other responsibilities.
Train Docents
In addition to the role described above, as a Train Docent, you will share valuable information with guests throughout the entire trip. You will be on your feet for hours at a time, with lunch being the only time to sit and rest, so you will need considerable physical stamina to fulfil your role.
